Baby Jackson

Today we went over to see Shara and Allen's new baby Jackson. He is SO cute and was born with a full head of hair! As always, whenever I touch a baby, some sort of bodily function occurs. When I would hold Easton, he would throw up all over me. Now, when I hold Jackson, he poops and toots. Nice. Anyway, here is Uncle John and Jackson.

(The pictures are fairly sucktastic because I took them with my phone)

"No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible." - Stanislaw Lec

I think today was the only day I have ever appreciated snow because we got a snow day at work! It has been a blizzard all day and at about 1:30 p.m., my boss and I went out to measure the snow - 10 INCHES! At 2:00, BYU sent out an email that due to bad weather and concern for safety, we were all to leave work! YES! And, even better, they were still paying us until 5! So John and I got off work at about 2:30 and went and shopped the rest of the day. I just hope it isn't this bad when we try to drive to Price for Christmas!

We hope everyone has a Happy Holidays!

Here is my boss measuring the snow with a ruler. 10 inches!

Here are some pictures of John playing in the snow and me pouting about the snow.

HOLY! Literally!

Best Sunday EVER! So we had our family get together this weekend at the Lundell's. As part of that, we went to Music and the Spoken Word this morning. We got there pretty early so we ended up like right in the front rows. We are sitting there chatting with each other and listening to the warm-ups from the choir and orchestra. All of the sudden, President Monson walks in and right past us! It was so cool. I had never seen a Prophet that close up before. BUT WAIT! It gets better. The program was wonderful and the music was beautiful. After the program was over, we stand up as President Monson walks out. Then, he stops at our family and starts talking with us! He shook hands with Stockton and Carson and talked with them and then shook hands with Great Grandma Blackburn and talked with us for a couple more minutes after that. It was so cool and such a neat experience for us all. Afterwards, we walked around Temple Square for a little while and saw all the stuff at the visitors center. Anyway, here are some pictures from the tabernacle and President Monson. I felt weird taking pictures of him like he was a celebrity but hey, when will we ever have this opportunity again? (It's okay, they said we could take pictures before and after the program. Also, there was a professional photographer there taking pictures when President Monson was with our family so look for those to turn up somewhere!)

HOLY! Literally!

Best Sunday EVER. So, we had our family party at the Lundell's this weekend and as part of that, we all went to Music and the Spoken Word in the morning. We get there and we get seats right in the very front and we just sit there and chat. Right before the music starts, we look over, and President Monson has walked in. That was a really neat surprise to be able to see him that closely because we walked right in front of us (because we were in the front). So the program is very nice and the music is beautiful. When the program ends, President Monson gets up to leave and BAM! Stops at our family and starts talking with us. He shook hands with my cousins Carson and Stockton and talked with them for a second, then he was talking to my Great Grandma Blackburn. It was so cool! He was right there and talking to our family like it was no big thing. Anyway, so here are some pictures from the tabernacle and President Monson. (No worries, they said we could take pictures and there was a professional photographer there who was taking pictures of Pres. Monson talking to our family so look out for those pictures somewhere!)

My Tiff With Snow

My Tiff With Snow
by Maren

I hate winter,
Oh, I hate it so...
I hate the cold,
especially the snow!

When I walk,
The ground sa-loshes.
Everything is wet,
But boy, I hate galoshes.

Oh, Sun!
Where did you go!?
Please melt away
This awful snow!

It soaks my pants,
Frizzes my hair.
It ruins my make-up,
I look like a bear.

Please, oh please,
Snow, go away!
Can't you see,
You've ruined my day.

I'm Grateful For...(Day After Edition)

Because of the Thanksgiving Holiday, I've decided to post 10 things that I'm grateful for (keep in mind, it is the day after Thanksgiving edition).
I'm grateful for...

1. SALES
2. Getting a BluRay of Transformers for $9 instead of $15.
3. John for waking up and coming with me at 4:00 to wait in line at WalMart.
4. My ability to Price Match.
5. Being able to get 5 DVD's, 1 Wii game, and 1 BluRay movie for $70.
6. I didn't need any toys so I didn't get into any of the fights that occured.
7. Other people making fun of all the hard-core crazies in WalMart.
8. Random old ladies reaching through my legs to get a pack of batteries.
9. My speed.
10. My ability to squeeze through shopping carts crammed down the aisles.

Other notable events from today....
Someone lost a shoe and the manager threw it across the entrance.
I think the rush of people at the beginning broke the front doors.

Anyway, here's a picture of me in line this morning at 4:30. Can't wait for next year!

Churro City!

So, anyone who knows me, knows that I am NOT a cook. BUT! We had a work party with a Mexican theme so I decided to make CHURROS! It was actually really easy and fun. They turned out great! Hooray!

Halloween

This Halloween, we had our annual penta-party with all of our friends. We didn't have very much time to put our costumes together (as you will tell from the pictures) but there were still fun to make. If you can't tell, John is Wall-E and I am Eva from the Disney movie Wall-E. (yes, my costume is made from a garbage can).

BYU vs. UNLV

John and I got tickets to the BYU vs. UNLV Football game a couple of weeks ago. It was way fun and my parents were also there but they were sitting in the President's Box with lots of high falooting people.
Anyway, here are the pictures! There is a picture of Bronco and Jan Jorgensen (home-town pride!) down there as well...

Obama 08'

I usually don't get really into politics and this will be my first presidential election. John and I have been following this race really closely and have done tons of research. We both have really supported Obama this whole election and tonight, Obama put out this video. It was so well done and it was a really good experience to watch it.
Anyway, this video is so good and I suggest that if you have 30 minutes to spare...watch this video.

Hmmmm......

I still don't know if this is sad, cute, or hilarious!

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

On Saturday, John and our good friend Adam went to a corn maze in Blue Bell. I had to work so I couldn't go. Plus I got to go shopping with my mom and little sister. Anyway, this is a random, odd video of John on the mini train ride at the the corn maze. He couldn't take any other pitures...but he could get this.

Koreans in America!

Hey Everyone, sorry it's been so long since our last update. John and I are doing well but totally bogged down with school, work, and other things.
Every year at my work we have a group of Koreans from Hyundai come that we host for about three months. Each week they go on a fieldtrip and this week they went Horseback Riding....and guess who had to go with them. It was fun but weird at the same time. They kept taking pictures of me and with me and now my buttocks is sore from riding around on those dang horses all day. My friend Emilee, my boss Rob, and I all "dressed the part" for the trip and that's what this picture is of.

The first all-nighter this semester

Well, it's 6:13 a.m. I have been working on homework from 10:00 p.m. (when I got out of class) up until about 4:00 a.m...and then I couldn't sleep...kind of sucks...hard.

2 Year Anniversary

Our 2 year anniversary was on August 26. I never got to post about it because we were on our cruise. I love John so much and these past two years have been amazing! We've had so much fun together...even though most of the time we've been in school:( I found our wedding video so here it is!

Cruise!

I'm finally posting our Cruise pictures! It's been so crazy with school and work I haven't had time! It was so much fun! There was tons to do and even more to eat. I'm pretty sure all the weight I lost before the cruise came back tripled after the cruise. The first slideshow is just random pictures from the cruise!

San Diego/Coronado Island

The first day we went to San Diego and took a ferry over to Coronado Island where we hung out at the beach all day. The weather was perfect and it was so fun to sit an relax!

Catalina Island

In Catalina we went snorkeling! It was fun until at the end when we both took a big glub of salty sea water. Freak Nasty! The pictures aren't that great because it's from a $7 underwater camera from walmart. Oh well! Enjoy!

Knott's Berry Farm

Ensenada, Mexico

In Ensenada, besides shopping/bartering (which really didn't happen because John and I are taken in too easily), we went Kayaking to La Bufadora (The Blowhole). It's this really cool cave thing that shoots up water way high up. It was amazing. The sweels in the ocean were massive as well so it was some tough work but it was SO FUN!

Love it!

When we have kids...they'd better be like this.

Rhythmic Dance

Ho-LY! I just got back from my first Rhythm and Dance class and it was HILARIOUS! The whole class, we did "step dancing" and calling out the steps. The teacher would call out the step and we would do it. Then we had to think of a step on the spot and have everyone do it with us. I was one of the first ones and the only thing I could think of was 1,2, and Squat!

Almost there!

The craziness has begun! On Monday we fly out to California to start our cruise! I'm so excited but I'm scared to fly...and half the time I don't even get to sit by John because we bought our tickets so late. Blah! We fly back in on Saturday and then start school on Tuesday! NUTS!
This semester I am taking 7 classes. I'm really nervous because it's a really heavy load and I'm nervous to start the education program. I got into the fast-track education program which means I will get my el-ed degree in one year instead of two. John is taking three classes, one chem (plus lab), one physics (plus lab), and a pre-dental class where he would be shadowing for three hours a week. John has already started shadowing and loves it. He went down to Price this past week and worked in Dr. Bailey's office. It was a really good experience for him and he got to see lots of NASTY!
I'm glad to have things to do again and to be busy, but I can't believe how fast everything has come up. Wish us luck!

Canada Adventures!

Hello everyone! It's been forever since we got back from Canada but I've been to lazy to post all of our pictures! So here they are! I had to divide them up because there are so many! The ones with this post are just random ones that I took along the way but are still post worthy. Canada was so pretty and it made me more grateful for this beautiful Earth and all of God's wonderful creations!
*EDIT*
I found out about that massive statue. It is in Butte, Montana and it is a 90 foot statue of Mary. Awesome!
