Updates on teaching and Happy St. Patrick's Day suckas!

Lots of you have called to find out how my teaching is going. Thanks! It's awesome to know that people are constantly thinking about me.

Teaching is going FANTASTIC! I am LOVING my second graders...which for me, is a huge step...usually I don't even like children! They are fantastic and have helped me learn so much. I've had 2 out of my 3 major observations so far. The head honcho lady gave me a really amazing review. She then recommended my to the principal, who in turn came and talked to me about applying for their internship this spring. Basically, if I interview there, I will have a guaranteed job! I am so grateful for all of the help I've recieved from my Heavenly Father, my teachers, and my family and friends! I really appreciate the prayers and the help, especially from my parents and John. With my mom's teaching skills and my sweet management skills combined, we've transformed into a super teacher! Thanks mom for your help and all of the free stuff you keep giving me! I love you!

Another update: My eye is feeling much better thanks to Cam! For those of you who don't know, my eye was really hurting everytime I looked in one direction on Saturday night. I went to bed thinking it would get better....WRONG...worse! We drove down to the hospital in Price on Sunday and Cam finally pulled something black out of my eye. Who know's what it was. My eyes was scratched and really sore after all the messing around on it. Anyway, I've been wearing my glasses and looking like a doofus, but I can stop using my eye drops and I can go back to my contacts tomorrow! Hooray!

Life for the next month

Starting Wednesday....my life is going to be INSANE! I start my first practicum (student teaching) on Wednesday at Westridge Elementary with a 2nd grade class. I am way excited to finally not be sitting in 3 hour lectures and actually doing field work! However, between work and extra classes, I basically will be unavailable most of the day. I leave the house at 7:30 and will get back around 8:00 and I have to work Saturdays to make up for the hours I am missing. Poor John....who will cook and clean for him....oh wait....who does that now?

Another note. Sunday was Baby Jackson Sumnall's blessing. It was really nice to have everyone together. Also, the baby looked at me without screaming....it was a Sunday miracle.

Maren Macgyver

Okay. The only reason I am Maren Macgyver and I had to use my sweet skills to get me out of a sticky situation is because I'm a total dork.

The other day, I was getting in the car to head to work. I put my phone above the steering wheel while I put my bag in the back and keys in the ignition (as I always do). Then, for some reason, the phone fell....BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL! Like, into the car! It was so far back there that I couldn't see it. I was totally freaking out because I thought it would destroy my phone and the car. I hurried and turned the car off. And the, I got resourceful. We had hangers and tape in the car, so I fashioned a little pulling device by putting a roll of tape on the hanger. I then proceeded to fish my phone from behind my steering wheel. 15 minutes later, BAM! My phone is out.

And that, my friends, is another proof of how awesome (and stupid) I am. (I also took pictures of my process in case it actually worked)

The little hole behind the steering wheel is where my phone fell. You can barely see the silver lining from my phone back there.

My sweet device

BAM! Here it is! Hooray

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was so fun this year! I'm so glad it fell on a long weekend! It was so nice to worry about school or work and just hang out with each other. We went to dinner and a movie and John bought me beautiful roses and star lily flowers (my favorite) and then surprised me with a new band for my wedding ring! I was so surprised and excited! He is THE BEST!

Not Much Happenings.....

The past couple weeks have been crazy....but not with anything really important, just crap. Only a few things happened that are worth posting about. Last week, John and I were making Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (because they are like my favorite meal in the winter). Anyway, John was slicing up some cheese and all of the sudden, he starts jumping around, holding his finger, yelling....I thought he had touched the stove and burned himself, however, after seeing all the blood, I soon realized that he had not been burned, but had sliced his finger open with the cheese slicer. I'm freaking out and screaming (and gagging) that we need to go to the hospital (Mind you, it is a fairly large cut and it looks deep). John is says he's fine and goes to put a bandaid on....1 minute later, he has to switch band-aids yet again. Anyway, he didn't go to the hospital and now he has a nasty on his finger.
Another notible event. We had a SuperBowl Party with our friends KC and Adam yesterday at KC's house because he has a sweet big screen. It was fun to watch the game and just chill and laugh. (Also, the Office episode after the game was hilarious). Of course, I forgot my camera and now all precious memories are lost to time.
Also, I have developed a twitch in my eye. I'm pretty sure it's work related...but it's been going on for about 1 1/2 weeks. It's fairly annoying.

Warning: Longest Series of Posts...Ever!

Holy! It's been forever since I've had a good post. So much has happened since Christmas and it has been pure chaos at our house! For Christmas, we went down to Price and hung out with both families. It was fun to go to the Williams' Christmas Eve Party and see everyone. Christmas morning we were at the Kings and had fun watching Mom and Dad and MeLisa and John all be wasy surprised at their gifts this year. Mom was especially hiliarious.
Then, school started. UGH. I'm loving my classes but there are SO MANY! I'm taking 9 classes which is about 18 credits. I also start my 1st cohort this semester (like student teaching). I will be at Westridge Elementary in Provo with the 2nd grade. Kind of scary...actually...really scary. But it will be a good experience.
